1) Starburst Memorials Launch Service: $12,500

Service will launch your full cremains
(up to 3kg) into space where they will scatter

- Cremains launching of up to 3000 grams (The average
adult's ashes are less then this);

event you wish to be launched on;
- A memorial reading before and during your flight
if you wish. All pre-flight, flight, and launch range fees
are included in one price. No hidden launch fees;
- You may name your Mosquito Launch vehicle if you wish and
have it engraved on the vehicles body or you may have your
name and a short message engraved
on the vehicle;
- A video tape of your launch and a certificate of
flight;
- Your family and friends are always welcome to attend
your launch and free live Internet video coverage is available
for those who are not able to be attend.
This service will also be available with the Dragonfly
Launch Vehicle but with shared launches (multiple customers
on one flight) for the same price. This service will be available
as soon as The Dragonfly vehicle is operationally certified.
The Dragonfly will carry several peoples ashes to satellite
altitudes before scattering them. FREE up grading from the Mosquito
to the Dragonfly will be available as soon as The Dragonfly is
flight certified. Single customer Dragonfly flights will also
be available with prices pending.
Flights with Mosquito vehicles are
expected to begin in the summer of 2005 and Dragonfly flights
about a year
later. Packages can be upgraded as orbital launch and other services
become available.
And as always your family and friends are welcome to attend your launch.
Our competition charges almost
$1000 for 1 gram (that's about the weight of one paper clip).
2) Wayfarer Memorials Launch Package: $500 US
Our Wayfarer
Memorials Launch Package is an economy
service and will launch and scatter in space, a 100 gram symbolic
portion.
The service provides you with
a shared Mosquito flight vehicle
(several customers to one vehicle) which will carry your ashes
to the edge of space where they'll be ejected and scattered
at apogee to disperse over a wide area. As your ashes float
back down to Earth the heavier particles will land within
a hundred kilometers or so of the launch site and the lighter
particles may be picked up by the jet stream and carried around
the world.
This service includes the
following standard features:
- Shared Mosquito launch vehicle for your
flight
- The launch of a symbolic 100 gram portion
of your cremains
- A memorial reading before your flight,
if you wish
- All pre-flight, flight, and launch range
fees are included in one price. No hidden launch fees.
- You may have your name engraved on the
vehicle's body, if you wish
- A video tape of your launch and a certificate
of flight
Your family and friends are
always welcome to attend your launch and free live Internet
video coverage is available for those who are
not able to be attend.
This service is also available with shared flights on the
Dragonfly launch vehicle for
the same price (this service will be available as soon
as the Dragonfly
vehicle is operationally certified). The Dragonfly
vehicle will ascend to satellite altitudes before scattering
your
ashes. Free upgrading from the Mosquito to the Dragonfly
will be available as soon as the Dragonfly is flight ready.
Flights with Mosquito vehicles
are planed to begin in the summer of 2005 and Dragonfly flights
about a year later. Packages can be upgraded when orbital

General Starburst Flight
Profile
Starburst or Wayfarer flight with a Mosquito
vehicle will take about 2 minutes or so to reach an apogee of
80-90 km before your ashes are ejected and scattered. Flights
with the Dragonfly vehicle will take about
5 minutes to reach its apogee of 230-250 km before ejection.
After ejection the ashes will float down. As
the atmosphere thickens upper atmospheric winds will further
disperse
the particles. The lighter particles may be supported by these
winds and could be carried around the world. Heavier particles
will come down nearer to the launch site but the specific dispersal
pattern will vary with each launch as atmospheric winds will
be blowing in different directions and at different speeds during
each launch. Minimal dispersal patterns covering a hundred kilometers
or more are expected.
Future
Services
Columbiad Launch Services is eagerly working towards a satellite launching system.
As soon as this system is operational we will be adding satellite launches to
our product line. As well, a launch package to land your ashes on the moon is
in the works.
